Linton Locks many, many years ago.
Blazing hot weather, wonderful course, relaxed organiser, good paddling, good company and general fun.
Only drawback was if you capsized you had to roll VERY quickly, it was such fun swimming the course, that loads of people jumped in to 'help' you seconds after your head disappeared. :p
Also the site of the weirdest appeal I ever heard:
C1 paddler capsizes in stopper, loses paddle & hand rolls up!!
A replacement paddle was thrown to him and he continued the course.
He was then disqualified for outside assistance, but appealed as he had not asked for it and was going to hand paddle after his own blade. . . .
Anyone else remember 'Nard the Hard'?

All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are due to too many English classes/teachers.
Old. Fat. Slow. Bad tempered. And those are my good points

ok i've been thinking bout my best event ever, i cant really think of one event really, washburn is wkd cos its always mega hot and i usually do well there as well i would have to say though that the very best event of every year has got to be the cardinton interclubs cos thats always mega hot as well and everyone has such a good time and nobody stresses out about bad runs etc

More of a non-event really. Cairnton near Banchory many moons ago. Constant rain Friday and Saturday. Awoke on Sunday to find the river had risen about 8 ft, washed away all the gates so did one of the best river trips I have ever been on.
Also my first ever slalom in Div 2 at Grandtully. Managed to persuade my dad to put a bet on that he couldn't lose - if I got promoted he would buy me a boat, if I was to just miss out on promotion he would buy me paddles. As this was my first in Div 2 he thought his money was safe. Practised all weekend, paddled as well as I could, and missed promotion by 1 second!! Surprisingly, he has never bet anything like this since.
