This will be amazing cant wait for it to be built. A new place to train. Is it defiantly going ahead couldn't work out?

Anyone know how many cumecs are needed for the proposed course, and how that equates with cost of overnight pumping/ water fees?
ie.can we afford it, or will it be rafters only
I'd go once a week, living so close, if I could afford it, and not be squashed by rafts...

Stephen,
I think we are all going to have to wait and see. I quizzed Emma from the WCA at the Washburn about the costs of running the course at Cardiff and she admitted that the construction of the course was more about political will than a sound business case.
The course isn't even going to be run by the WCA - instead it will be run by the company looking after the rest of the International Sports Village. I think you are going to find therefore that once they have done their sums the course will cost a similar amount as Dutch Water Dreams and will therefore remain empty most of the time apart from when a party books a load of rafts.
I hope I am proved wrong but the signs aren't good.

Actually, I hope it does become a rafting haven as it will be the only way it makes enough money to stay open so that they can afford to discount those that want to do slalom, freestyle, etc.
The running costs are not going to be cheap. Hopefully they will have dedicated times when the rafts are booked that will pay the majority of the running costs so that everyone else can get on and enjoy a raft-free session.

Early talk of the course being like penrith whitewater stadium are looking much more promising!
I just read in a report on the progress the course will use 5 pumps (like penrith does) and use the same gate system and omniflot system as the penrith whitewater stadium so get ready guys because we're in there!!
Shame we can't have their weather though!
