I love paddling, I enjoy competition, I am 49 years old. The likelihood of being promoted to div 1 water from my current diiv 2 slot is vanishingly small. The challenge of bigger water is a real buzz. No matter how many clear runs I get they will never be as fast as the J12 & J14's. Div 2 water is not as challenging or exciting as Div 1 (Yes, yes exceptions excepted). It would be nice if there was a formal process whereby one could pay up and compete rather than feeling that one needs to drag oneself out of the lower division before going to higher level events. If numbers of paddlers are lower at higher competitions would it not help to increase income. Some of us compete for the love of the water and the satisfaction, knowing that although capable of staying upright (mostly) we will not make the "A" team. Rant or observation, I have not yet decided yet. I guess I could shut up and just turn up to do judges runs!!
