Re: Open Divisions
There are a lot of posts flying around on this topic and haven't had time to read them all so excuse me if this has already been covered. But would open divisions not be useful in situations where the water levels affect the event? An example would be Shepperton, the Div 1 was cancelled earlier in t...

Re: Olympic funnies
A wee bit late on this post but it was David Vine guys - He has famously got it wrong in all the sports hes commented on over the last 4 decades :-) those of us of a certain age will remember :-) David Vine is also a bit late to this forum, he died in 2009!! The commentator is Paul Dickenson, retir...

Plastic shoes
Does anyone know where I can buy a pair of plastic shoes for paddling in?
All I can find are neoprene booties (Sandiline & Peak), socks or those huge boots.
Years ago I used to have a pair by a company called Lizard which were great.
Thanks
Simon

Re: Why only one olympian?
My opinion (biased and personal) get rid of sports where the Olympics is not the ultimate prize. Biased I woudl say - football and probably tennis, and distribute teh athlete places to 'proper sports'. But that might affect teh audience figures. . . . good job I have no influence Golf to look forwa...

Re: Olympic Selection
As to how well team GB will do is a good question."World Class" is a term thrown around a lot these days, but what does that really mean? The one thing you can be sure of is that once in the Olympic team it is a lot easier to win medal's than at a World Championships as so many top athletes are not...

Re: Olympic Selection
Well I suppose they could be a drug cheat who's ok to compete within his sport but the BOA don't want them at the Olympics. i.e. Dwain Chambers, David Millar. While we're on the subject and the fact there is punditary in most other sports, what are peoples views on how well "team GB" will do? It's i...

Re: TEES CANCELLED??
Have to agree Dave. The same is true of Cardiff where there are no gates and I'm sure after the Olmpics Lee Valley will go the same way. I don't think it's just our sport that suffers though. You can probably count on one, maybe two hands the amount of 50m swmming pools in the UK. I'd heard a rumour...

Re: TEES CANCELLED??
Is teesside not a white water rafting course now? Lee Valley after the Olympics too. To be fair whenever I go to Teesside, generall twice a month it's only been paddlers on the long course and Fire & Rescue guys playing on the short course. Not a raft in sight and very quiet. What are the reasons f...

Re: TEES CANCELLED??
Well they can paddle on Bala, Hpp and Tully the same as Prem so why not Lee Valley? If new promotees can't handle it then don't race there. Surely the sport at the higher level is about testing yourself on the best White water available. Div 1 paddlers are the step below prem so should be able to ha...

Re: TEES CANCELLED??
I hope not and would be a shame if it has.
Last years event put on at short notice was a really well run and enjoyable event.
If it's re-arranged maybe it could be at Lee valley and give Div 1 paddlers a chance to race there.

Re: Access Awareness April 2012
I agree entirely with you last point Kendall gaining the support of the slalom and paddling community is vital. A petition is a good way of engaging this and hopefully any other member of the public who attends. However I feel it will take more than this for anything to change. The public en mass ne...

Re: Access Awareness April 2012
"irresponsible act", "loose Cannon"!! What are you expeting people to do start tunneling under the course, chaining themselves to the boat conveyor, throw themselves at paddlers as they are competing? The point is only to bring the issue to a wider public audience be that with leaflets, posters or b...
