Thanks FatBoy I think the best next step would be to wait a week or so to review other contributions to this thread. Other paddlers/organisers might like to add comments from their own perspective and try to come up with practical solutions to the issues already raised with regard to payments and c...

There was some discussion of this at a Slalom Advisory Group meeting a year ot two ago but not much has happened since. Last year's ACM did introduce start lists and results by e-mail but the Slalom Committee still requires entries to be made by post. See UK 11.4.7 on YearBook page 79 Payment issue...

I believe that discussions are still taking place and that a final decision will be made by the end of this week.

Don't talk to me about late entries. I've just realised that last week I sent my entry off for the Stafford & Stone race at HPP on 19 September 2004!! I took last year's Year Book out of my case by mistake and sent my entry off to the wrong organiser, quoted the wrong date and sent a cheque for las...

The Organiser will prepare an "official" results list. This and the entry cards will be sent to the bib officers and the ranking compilers for the relevant classes and divisions. The ranking compilers will check that the results match the cards, that the points are calculated correctly and that all...

Hi Beeble I bought some epoxy resin and carbon/kevlar from ABL (Stevens) in Sandbach, Cheshire, last year. Their service was excellent and I believe the prices were keen. I sent an enquiry by e-mail from their site and got a quotation back within 24 hours. They do mail order or you can collect. I w...

This is Nick's note in the Results section on the Slalom site. Please Note: I will publish any results sent to me in an electronic form that I can use. Excel, Word, and HTML output from Slasoft are all acceptable and I'll unpick text files if I can. I will also link to any results published on othe...

On the IOC site this morning:

26 of the current 28 sports have been approved for 2012.

The two not confirmed are baseball and softball.

That's a relief then.

Brilliant news. Another quality slalom site for the UK, guaranteed. Any news on the other vote? I understand that this IOC meeting will also decide the sports to be included at the Games. Each existing sport is voted on separately and needs a simple majority to be included in 2012. If a sport fails...

Simple question. Is there any genuine reason or excuse for a paddler to try and enter a race with an underweight boat? The original question needs to be asked again. Overheard at HPP after the race on Saturday. Paddler 1 "Why haven't you got your weight in your boat?" Paddler 2 "I take it out if I ...

Thanks for the link Dave.

I watched the Shepperton one (as boily as ever) and the Llangollen one.

At the Llangollen slaylem, the spectators were standing on the rocks below the bridge arches! It seemed to be a few years later and at least the paddlers were wearing helmets.

Hi FWG Camping is available at Telford's site at Jackfield. In past year's it's been a popular event and so space can be a bit tight though. There are also flush toilets. There will be a well run refreshment tent serving hot and cold food. In past year's there has also been a BBQ on the Saturday ev...

I think he was. :;):

But did you know he was also a canoeist.

As well as his more publicised exploits as a skiier and a footballer, the great man used to enjoy going on canoeing trips, before the war in his native Poland.

(No mention of slalom though).
