If there are going to be changes to promotion and the number of points needed to stay in a division, then hopefully this will be published asap so the paddlers are aware of the goal posts. Don't worry. No changes to the existing rules would be made by the Slalom Committee unless they had first been...

Hi Chauffeur Good spot. Much of the detail in the What? How? section on Nick Penfold's site was written a while ago. For instance, the entry fees quoted for Div 4 are the 2002 fees. I'll drop Nick a line to see if he can bring this section up to date. The points target for promotion to Div. 1 was r...

Iain

It was reduced to 2700 a couple of years ago.

There are discussions going on at the moment to review the promotion levels and the size of the divisions.

It could therefore change again for 2007.

I missed the first 10 minutes but from what I saw I would give top marks for the coverage.

Great camera positions, informative commentary and interesting interviews.

Good coverage for the sport so well done to everyone involved.

Vivienne

I think that the vote must have closed.

The link was on the post by Geebs on the first page. If you click it now it seems to ask you if you are "middle class" !!!

The only time I'm asked a question abour class is usually on an entry card and I always normally answer "K1".

I believe that at Division 2 and below, paddlers should be able to ask for (and be given) additional time. Usually entry numbers at Div 2's tend to allow this and organisers seem relaxed. It is more difficult in Division 1 and above as water time is often limited and entries are generally higher. I...

UK Sport have announced how each Olympic sport (other than football and tennis) will benefit from Gordy's cash. Canoeing gets £10.8m over the 3 years to Beijing, with an increase of 23% on its original funding for the current year. Other than athletics, the sports with the highest funding are all w...

Hi Fatboy

All div 1 paddlers enjoy a practice run before their race and so don't need forerunners. They therefore get to watch their fellow competitors practicing and also do the course for real.

Perhaps an argument if favour of (at venues where water time restrictions allow) having more combined Prem/Div 1 races?

Div 1 paddlers of the appropriate standard could do the job (though it wouldn't help with the the C2 problem).

Following an unfortunate incident at the Tryweryn event on April 1st, I am looking for a Club to sponsor a UK rule change for the next ACM. Insert new rule UK 33.2 (and renumber subsequent rules) UK 33.2 During a run, if a paddler should miss a gate (due to it being positioned either incorrectly or...
