I'll echo that...thanks to the organisers for a great event, despite LV's continuing efforts to make it difficult (car parking, access to toilets, late turning Olympic water on etc) The good news is those that completed the course have been granted the Legacy Loop assessment, so at least we...

Mr Munchkin, thanks for the PM...OK, so 3 missing entries currently known of, which to be honest out of the hundred plus on the start list is probably about right for the post! Thank you for sticking with this...I am sure we have been party to only some of the problems involved with LOCOG and LV ma...

As I understand it from the LV website, there are 2 assessments anyway, one for the Legacy channel and one for the Olympic course, so I would imagine that this method would only be a Legacy assessment, so no, you wouldn't be allowed to paddle to Olympic course on the strength of it... So, does this...

Jim/Michelle et al, I am not having a go at the organisers here, as it seems to me that the problem is coming from Lee Valley, not the event organising team. I phoned and emailed the course several weeks ago asking if I would need an assessment to paddle on Sunday (I had already entered the event)....

So, if I can eat a cheese roll on moving water, I can compete at Lee Valley? Excellent news...off to train now :;): Seriously though, faced with a 7 hour (at best) drive, and hoping to put some of the kids on the water on Sunday to train on the legacy course having competed on Saturday, it would be...

We will be posting a start list in the next few days ( closing date for entries is tomorrow, 2 weeks before) and further details will be posted as we get them!!! So watch this space. Any news on this Anne, as I have not seen nor heard anything yet, and still need to know whether I need a campsite f...

Thanks Neil, from the "Rants and Raves" thread it appears Anne is being pretty active in trying to sort this out, so hopefully with a few enquiries about paddling the following day, and pressure from what I imagine will be a pretty full start list, a decision will be made... I did leave numbers etc...

I was as surprised as you by their reply that everyone would receive an assessment, which is why I made the above posting. I hoped to paddle on the sunday after the event even though there were no appointments for assessments, and let the centre know that there might be others like me. I'm the only...

There is another side to this...some of the people I have seen compete in judges runs pretty much only judge, and pootle down the course for a judges run. At lower division events, sometimes there are only a few paddling judges, so it gives these folk an opportunity to paddle and maybe get a small ...

If it transpires that the centre can use competitors' runs during a slalom as a quick form of competency assessment then the slalom itself increases the number of paddlers who may come back to the course - hence increasing their revenue. Another point for negotiation. We're travelling down from Sco...

Nice try Jim, I think Viking have that one sorted!!! But do they have exclusive rights? We have 3 different clubs that run events at Alva, as long as two of us don't go for the same weekend, it works well. We all get an event, the locals get 3 events! If the site is available, and there's room in t...

Spikes - eek - I capsized in the upstream gate in the shoot on river right (or left, paddling up into the weir) and rolled, but after I'd already got my 50 :-( Still, aced it next run and got promoted! Think I only went there once, we'd arranged it as a club trip, so had about 8 paddlers from Fores...

Darley Abbey (Derby) (promoted from novice to div 4 there!), Winchester, River Dart, Peterborough (my only ever DSQ there due to an inopportune comment by a team member whilst in earshot of the judge after hitting a gate), Stratford, somewhere else in the Midlands (although not sure if they ever go...
