Re: Orton Mere Slalom(Peterborough) July 14th+15th

This is sounding all to familiar. The river level is high at the moment but failing The weather forecast for the week is wet but nothing torrential. At the moment we can still hold the event , the course would be moved 30 mtrs down stream so we would not use the top of the weir shoot. But keep an ey...

Obviously the sun shone on the righteous this weekend, with wall to wall sunshine down here as well as north of the border. See you all July 14/15. Follo...

Re: Rules over the years....

Hi Stu, My grandad told me that when he started slalom in 1977 there was no 20 second penalty for an outside touch, but the older members in the club we still talking about the rule and how its removal was de-skilling the sport and would evantually lead to the collapse of civilisation as we now it. ...

Could be down to one of 3 reasons; 1 Senility on my part. 2 We are alot kinder in the south, probably something to do with only drinking half pints of shandy! 3 Or we have misinterpreted rule UKC5.1 page 68 in the year book. Last bit says "3 Competitors or 3 Teams in Division 4 start in that catego...

No tickets for us.

But we only live an hour and 20 minutes form the course.
So in the true spirit of Olympic profiteering we will happily evict our rabbits from their hutch for the duration and rent out this bijou accomodation, comes with outside tap, but bring your own sawdust & straw.

Thanks to all those who travelled from afar and braved the cold, perhaps next year we could look at combining the event with a guiness world record attempt for the most people huddled around one calour gas heater. :)

So we are strapped for cash. I think I have read in one of the links that Div1 is a schizophrenic division being a mix of racers and recreational paddlers. (what ever a recreational paddler is, I cant fit a flask and sandwiches behind the seat of my boat and besides stopping for a sandwich in the u...
