The deadline for submitting motions for this years ACM is Thursday 30th October. Motions need to be submitted in writing to the BCU Slalom Secretary (details in the yearbook) and must be signed by two individual BCU members who are members of and represent a voting club, i.e. two separate clubs who...

It doesn't make sense to keep the ladies in with the men. That just complicates matters and makes life even harder for the slalom organiser. They can race at the same time but the points calculation should be totally independent of each other. The next most obvious suggestion to make is that the la...

The boat is cut for a 50-77kg paddler, the colour of the boat is yellow and it is in good condition. I would like £300 ono for the boat. The boat is good for paddlers who are of an ok to good level, it is easy to surf stopers and waves in. If you want to try it out some time your welcome. Jonathan ...

Does anyone know who the two GB representatives actually attending the ICF Congress will be? Are they actively trying to find out what the slalom community actually want in terms of rule changes? I know the BCU provided an initial response to the rule changes but I don't know if anyone has asked fo...

They would be better to make it a series of either 2 or 4 races with points awarded for position achieved in each and then either least or most points wins depending on whether you adopt the World Cup or World Series ranking system.

Right or wrong, I don't really care where the money comes from or even what it is directly used for as long as the end result is the recruitment of new blood to the sport of slalom and the retention of those already in slalom. I would be interested to hear the views of ordinary club slalom coaches ...

Peter,

Jake Silvester from VKC is selling his kayak and would seem to be exactly what you are after.

Hi Peter, I emailed Andy Goodsell following the news about Helen Reeves resigning her position as club coach. He is currently looking at running some short term projects in the areas/clubs which Helen covered and then fully assessing the overall situation at the end of September. Now is probably a ...

Hi Seedy,

You forgot the most important change - the introduction of C1 Women at the Senior World Champs from next year and the possibility of introducing C2 Women as a class sometime in the future assuming the demand materialises.

Hi Jake,

How come you aren't selling your Quantum to VKC? It would appear to fit the spec and price they are after.

Thanks Graham, Personally I think we are getting pretty close now but I know there are one or two that don't like the use of the BCU image which was why I had just used the Canoe England text instead - this could be reduced in size to produce the same effect as an image I presume. Is there any slal...

From your original post in the Events section I had assumed that CANI had secured enough investment in Paddling Beyond 2012 to fund both the coaches and an initial supply of appropriately sized boats to get the successful applicants started in Canoe Slalom. I can't see how taking old 4m castoffs is...

Carl,

I definitely approve of the ladies C1 prizes. Long overdue and definitely one of the rule changes required at this years ACM regardless of how the ICF vote goes.

I hope the event is a great success.

Mark.
