Actually, I hope it does become a rafting haven as it will be the only way it makes enough money to stay open so that they can afford to discount those that want to do slalom, freestyle, etc. The running costs are not going to be cheap. Hopefully they will have dedicated times when the rafts are bo...

Could we at least post those grants that are regionally based but are available to all regions equally? I get the impression that all the grants mentioned so far in posts fall under this category. I've so far only heard from 3 slalom clubs that have been awarded grants - have others been successful...

I think what Stephen is getting at is that if you have applied for your bib already then the bib officer has your address and DoB and therefore it wouldn't be that hard to share this information with those that required it so why does it have to be entered on the card every time. We could just have...

Let's go with the ICF age categories for now and adjust them if we need to at the end of the season. I've only ever been involved with the May Bala Mill slalom event, but seem to remember that the majority of Masters (DVs) had completed their DoB on their entry cards. If they want to put their age ...

Boat is now back in Lancaster whilst HPP is shut. I intend to re-add some hip blocks and straps if anyone wants to try it out over the winter.

Can anyone with information on grants available to Slalom clubs/individuals please post the details under this thread so that those who use the forum have a single place to find this sort of info?

Thanks,
Mark

Rather than losing all this excellent info about grants hidden in the Wanted section of the forum that the majority might not read, wouldn't it be better if we had a dedicated post on grants either in 'Rants & Raves' or maybe the England section if they are purely English grants? Is there a generic...

Well spotted Colin. If the changes to Rule 3.1 are voted in first then the proposed change to Rules 4.1/4.2/5.1 can no longer stand, as they rely on the slalom committee's ability to promote paddlers to Prem. The whole basis for having a Premier Division was a hotly discussed topic at the Tryweryn ...

Continuing the debate about the choice of age groupings for DVs, here is the latest ICF proposal that looks likely to become adopted for 2009 - Masters events shall be held in the following age categories: (27-34,) 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65- 69, 70-74, 75+. A competitor can compe...

Simple solution - scrap Prem and just have one large Div1. Whilst we have a Premier division paddlers will want to aspire to it, whether it is beneficial for their future development or not, so no one is going to win with that argument. Second - no one counts race weekends as quality training time,...

I quite like John Sturgess' idea of inviting paddlers of a required standard from the next lowest division to 'guest' at races and only when they are good enough within the division they aspire to be allowed to be promoted to it. It requires a bit more thought and is too late for this year's ACM I ...

Robin, why are you so anti people being promoted to Prem if they have won the right, and those who have clearly not met the required standards to stay in Prem being demoted? Under a 10% rule, a large majority of Prem paddlers would be unaffected by Div1 promotions and as very few Div1's would obtai...
