The figures are not correct - every time I get a 50 it's a judging error!!!

Many thanks to MCC and Dave Brads for a great event which I really enjoyed. Certainly, the Sunday course was harder, but after a couple of practise runs it soon looked less daunting. I really hope we keep testing courses at HPP, otherwise it's just a waste of a great facility.

I too thought this was a very good course that was very cleverly designed. Apart from the upstream in the lay-by, there were "go-back" or spin options on nearly every other move, though arguably this had the option to spin the downstream above it and ferry glide in. MCC run the slaloms in July and ...

I'm covered, I bought some oinkment!!

I did phone the NHS help-line but couldn't hear anything for the crackling.

I gather one of the symptons is a nasty rasher.

Sorry, I'll get my coat.....

Nice one, I must admit the hardest choice was in C1. I chose Dave Hearn for his consistency, something that appeals at my age!- look at how many times he won the national championships (18 times between 1976 and 2001). I also think it can be argued that Hearn was the more technically capable of the...

Was a little bored this morning and having just read "the ultimate run" my mind starting to wander to working out who are the best ever slalom kayakers. I've selected for K1M, K1L, C1 and C2 for GB and Rest of World. Here's my selections: K1M GB.......Richard Fox K1M RoW.....Richard Fox K1L GB........

Firstly, there are many sports that allow video review (cricket, rugby etc) but it is only used when it is available. Therefore, it shouldn't have to be mandatory because it's used at one event. Here's an idea for a trial. I understand the BBC is filming the European Championships at HPP. Why not a...

I think too much has been read into my comments. I was suggesting camera(s) only on major events such as the Olympics or World Championships and, importantly, only on "the difficult to judge gates" - any lower class of event clearly raises viability issues. I disagree though that 2 cameras would be...

Hummm, doing all the paddlers is obviously fine, but on all gates seems a bit excessive. Perhaps at the top events, where there are generally one or two make-or-break moves, the option to be able to review a video might be very welcome by the chief judge - particularly where half-heads may be an is...

I have used Robson Reds and cannot recommend them - too heavy. I then got 2 sets of Double Dutch paddles and really liked them. All paddles need a bit of looking after and if you're unlucky enough to get them stuck and stressed they'll break regardless of who made them. I was disappointed though th...

I agree with Oldschool. Personally, I think this rule is ill thought out. When I finished at Shepperton I stayed on until the requisite number of competitors had finished but I knew I was incapable of rescuing anyone given my desperate need for more oxygen and exertion cramps in my arms. I've also ...

Was there yesterday and the changes look to me like they should make for much more consistent features. Definately looks a way off being finished though - guess that's understandable with the recent weather and the amount of concrete that needs to set.

In the 70s there wasn't a real issue with identity theft - but things (unfortunately) move on - after all, it was nearly 40 years ago. Having a small debate on whether things can be improved and/or made more secure is surely a good thing? Do we want to wait until something undesirable has happened ...
