Dave, It seems to me that there is a degree of confusion over the naming use of these techniques. With the availability of t'internet should we not be able to produce a visual library of these techniques, both good and bad, in order that good advice might be passed on to the sport as a whole? Kenda...

Green Peter, You may wish to consider using a paddle with a slightly thicker shaft. Myself and many others have suffered from the same problem / symptoms, all of which were a result of being forced to grip too hard. Hope this helps! Andrew yes i do recall a phase of paddling with carry mat taped ov...

sorry guys but if you don't use your top arm in a bow rudder your doing it wrong! if your arm is behind your head you have a very unstable joint with very little power availible to do what needs doing with the stroke. I have no problem with rolling the top wrist to find that bit extra, but to just ...

Hey, I mentioned rolling! :p sorry must have missed that part, reading back tho the thing about cranks interests me. why would a cranked paddle (which gives a better wrist position for the power transfer) adversly affect the shoulder? I have used cranks for more years than i'd care to own up to (le...

no one has mentioned rolling in all this. to me if a kid has a bomb proof roll they are less scared of going in on big water. we have one nipper in our club who learnt to roll last winter in the pool, got some rolling practice in over the summer on fair sized water and will now happily follow us do...

All jokes aside, i'd probably avoid paddling on the dee if they were in it! i'm sorry but if i'm not the biggest thing in the river i'm not going on it, which is why i never go canoeing on the sea. I have a healthy respect for nature and i think i know my spot in the food chain and most peolpe have...

Just to say that we enjoyed the afternoon levels on saturday! Althought it was definatly a good decision to cancel the race as it was not suitable for your standard div 3 level, all those who got on with us after learned a few things about paddling slightly bigger waters. It was definatly a shame f...
