Below is a copy from the World Class Statement on C2 J18 Selection from 22/4/08. "Please Note: In accordance with the published policy there will be an additional opportunity to qualify a further junior C2 at the June Premier race in Nottingham. The International Panel may consider the inclusion of...

Not sure what is happening in this thread at the moment. We seem to have started to debate the issue of "re-runs", with examples of what happened to me or him or her etc etc. I will add this to that debate. Paddler A set off before paddler B. At the bottom of the course Paddler A is paddling upstre...

Have I read this incorrectly. There will in effect be no gate line so there can never be a Double Entry if this rule is adopted. So what about a paddler who capsizes just as they are about to negotiate the Single Pole? All sorts of arguments can come out of that. How does a judge decide if the padd...

I don't know if this is true but I am sure that I've had a conversation with someone about the unofficial Commonwealth Canoe Slalom Championships held at Tully the last time the Commonwealth Games were held in Edinburgh. In 2014 the Commonwealth Games return to Scotland in Glasgow, and wouldn't it ...

This is a very difficult one for all concerned. The jury on the day made a decision to allow the re-run. The Committee has viewed the evidence and disqualified the paddler. Perhaps all the England squad members of 1966 should hand their medals back and declare West Germany (as it was then) the Worl...

Chris indicates that the SCA has applied for two weekends; Easter and the following weekend 29 March for the Tully Races. Yet to be ratified by the next AGM. The reasoning behind the proximity of these races is that people will stay up in Scotland for the inbetween week. That is a good idea. More t...

Just reading an article in the Travel Supplement of the Sunday Times - Not all School Holidays will fall at Easter next year. School holidays have altered this year from previous years' formats. We ourselves have fallen foul of this new arrangement. Having booked a cottage for the two weekends and ...

Occupation declared. Police Officer. Dave Brads, in 28+ years of interviewing suspects, I have never come across anyone so remorseful and honest as you. However I think the Statute of Limitations prevents any adjustment to your "best ever result in a kayak". However your "confession" highlights som...

Interest Declared. Nick, I thank you for contributing but need to take issue with you over a few things you mention. Firstly The back man "DUCKS FORWARD". Have another look. The back man is leaning back during the cross and then kneels upright as he gets to the gate. He never goes forward of his no...

The reluctant judge above needs to look at Rule 9.4. The Section Judge is responsible for recording the penalty that they believe is correct even after consultation with the gate judge. At Tryweryn last week it was a Selection Race and there was an abundance of Section/Senior Judges. These Section/...

Interest Declared - father of author of this string. I took the video and have looked at it several times myself and then tried to apply the rules to the decision. Negotiation: Rule 28.4 UK 28.4.1 The gate line is the actual area between the poles (and the vertical extension from the foot of each p...

It is an interesting debate and there is food for thought in relation to the continuous assessment for selection procedure. However some of our top paddlers do not always compete in all the UK ranking competitions. They would need to be encouraged to attend and race here more often. The 2004 race s...

Here is a different slant on the problem of extra time. In the senior/U23 selection race last weekend a paddler asked for extra time between them and the competitor IN FRONT of them so they did not catch them up!!! I think the problem was that the RACE ORDER was determined by RANKING ORDER. This co...
