All understood now, but surely my original point still stands - whether they did get promoted or not, the system as it stands allowed 48 paddlers to gain sufficient points to be promoted from Div 3. Therefore, last years change hasn't had an adverse effect on motivation for Div 3 paddlers. Whether ...

However, in Div 3 the impact has been drastic, especially in K1M, 48 K1M have been promoted from 3 to 2 this season. That's 22% of those who've raced in Div 3 this year. If you just limit the calculation to those who've been to 2 races [1 event] or more, then 37% have been promoted. If that's a 'dr...

some of us have come back into the sport to race against the younger kids to see how we hold up. What I proposed doesn't stop you doing this; you would still show in the ranking position in your normal division, with all other age groups, as now. But, as with the Juniors, you would also see yoursel...

Having a DV ranking list on canoeslalom.co.uk as well, would add a competitive edge throughout the season. The incentive to race as a result of using web-published league tables was the main reason for the original suggestion, i.e. same as for the J leagues. For me this would offset the loss of inc...

I think there's enough of an idea already Use the term Masters I think 5 year intervals are too short - our sport isn't sufficiently well populated for this. Taking into account Steve's comment [35 is a bit young to be called a Vet] we could have 40-49, 50-59, 60+ As for the separate Vets league - ...

Since the junior league tables have proved to be very popular, let's have the same for the Vets. Instead of just having DV, we would need - let's say for example - DV35, DV45, DV55, [DV65 ?!] where DV35 would be everyone 35-44, etc. Something similar is done in WWR. The arguments for doing this wou...

Apologies, but nothing to add - just want to keep the discussion alive as I have just purchased shaft and blades to make up a new set and will be grateful for all this information when I start 'glueing' up. [Never had to do so before]. Any tips gratefully received. I have got some info from Cool Bl...

Quote: "The only real change to promotion upwards from Div 3 or Div 2 is that you need to do one (yes, just one) more race." Yes, mathematically, it is. And if you are one of those who is managing to regularly come in the top 2 or 3 places at each race, it might only mean one more race. But for the...

We can perhaps already see some effects of last seasons changes made in an attempt to cut Div 1 and P sizes. Two facts; 1. With almost half [9 out of 20] of the Div 2 events behind us, of the 156 ranked paddlers in K1M Div 2, less than half have entered a race so far this year. And less than half o...

Yes, maybe you can rely on rule 9.4 to 'cover your back' in respect of a decision you've made; jointly or otherwise. But look at it from a volunteers point of view - why get embroiled in making any difficult decisions, perhaps alienating a fellow paddler, even a clubmate, when I could just stick to...
