Speaking from experience of running this for the last CT race, although the practice runs won't be as strictly controlled [i.e. times and order of runs] as the main runs, your name will be ticked off a list as you go down. So you'll probably only get one run. Unless you are clever ! Good luck again...

That's the problem isn't it ? Any system that you come up with makes it more difficult to manage. I'd been trying to think of an age-related handicap points system that would work to help prevent DVs from being demoted from their division if - as proposed elsewhere - the Vets leagues are scrapped. ...

Thanks everyone. Sounds like there is pretty much only one option. I think I was being a little optimistic as I can easily get a 9 ft surfboard into my Vaux Vectra hatchback [seats down, etc] and I managed to get my Tuscan [3.6m] in [doing the dashboard thing] with just 0.2m or so sticking out. So ...

I've worked on start quite often and always try to give extra time if asked. This isn't easy if there has already been a delay of some sort. There is quite a lot of pressure on those running start to keep the day on track and often we come under pressure from control to catch up. I guess that oldan...

I know that this is not a rant or rave, but seems to fit best here. I want to replace my car with an estate into which I could get a 3.5-3.6m slalom boat [with all the seats, including the passenger seat, folded down, etc.]. It's not just out of laziness [i.e. all that tying onto the roof] but it w...

That is good news about that weekend in Bala and perhaps a good case in point.
My club are running the Graveyard event - for which they will need me on start - but I would have like to have competed down the road at the Div 2/3 race. Now its looks like I can do a bit of both.

If it aint broke, don't fix it or similar .. is the most annoying phrase in the English language. If the human race had always taken that attitude, we'd all still be going to work on a horse and cart, lighting our homes with candles and eating raw meat. It was just a suggestion - for discussion - t...

Wouldn't the practice time just split into two ? One prior to the morning session, just for those to be racing in that session. Ditto for the afternoon. I'm just referring to the official practice full runs, of course. Free practice sessions shouldn't be affected. I do see the point about multi-cla...

There’s been a lot of talk here about making participation easier and in particular about how the time and effort that is required for what is often just 2 or 3 runs may be putting paddlers off slalom. This made me wonder if there is a good reason why an individuals runs are spread over the whole d...

I've now actually seen a couple of good clear arguments for having the separate Vets league, which I didn't understand when we had the last bulletin board discussion on this matter at the end of last season. But if we did have some DV only system, with age ranges or however it was done, we could ha...

It is the skis that go inside or outside the poles and it is obvious, by the explanation of pain,

Funny you saying that - I'd been thinking that if we went to one pole and no penalties, we could wire up the pole to give an electric shock .......

Like the last three, I'm all for it. Including the fixed pole idea. The 'simplifications' outlined would be of benefit to everyone involved - including the TV audience alluded to by the ICF. We've all agreed in previous topics that more TV is needed to boost the popularity of the sport. Using one-p...
