I don't think Jasmine would be too happy paddling a 60kg boat. Perhaps we could strike a compromise at 80kg total and chop bits off anyone who comes in overweight. Do we start at the neck up or the neck down??? Yes it would make it harder for the younger paddlers having to reach a minimum weight, b...

OK we seem to have changed the topic some what!!!

But back to the original question on weight, would it not be fairer to make it a "total package" minimum i.e. boat + paddler???

I notice (without sounding sexist, apart from two ladies post's which also happen to be qualified BCU Coach's and very experianced paddlers) that it is the big strong men that are putting on the post's  If you look at the amount of juniors especially in the womens events you will find there ar...

In motor sport which I officiated in for nearly 30 years at club & international level we had a similar problem with the timing of protests. This was quickly resolved by simply signing and timing the bottom of the results sheet by a race official with the words "Provisional Result's Posted @ xx.xxhr...

Each to their own view's on the subject. Personally a lot of our club paddlers have taken the decesion that if a boat has not got airbags in they will not even try to rescue it on courses like Tully, Hpp, Tryweryn etc. they will only look after the paddler. Good business for the suppliers of slalom ...

There again a sensitive issue. It was nice to see safety boats being used at points up and down the course at Tully and again this weekend at Sowerby Bridge. The use of these can be invaluable and the volunteers that spent most of the day on the water should be commended. Let's hope that this exampl...

The boat weighing rule is fine, what it does not take into account is the weight of the paddler which can vary quite considerably from a junior weighing 40kg to an adult weighing 80kg, surely to make it fair the total package ie boat and paddler should be taken into account??? Or is this not the ide...

Safety should come first in all aspects of canoeing. Even the best paddlers swim sometimes!!! Whilst I agree with Dave that slalom is a competive sport otherwise why would people do it? would you rather put someone elses life at risk trying to rescue a boat full of water with no airbags or rescue a ...

I beleive that it is very important that all boat's have at least stern airbags fitted, no matter what level you compete at in the UK. I know that some EU countries do not permit them, but whist in this country we should make this rule compulsory to protect the paddlers who have to rescue a boat in ...

You have got to bear in mind that it is a school computer and laser cutter that is being used to provide the templates for the markings on the boats and I beleive that this is not being charged for by the school for this service. The same school has provided most of the computers that are being used...

I suggest that Geebs helps oganise a race or two to see how much time and effort and expense are involved. I can also confirm that at premier and div one races, the electronic timing is NOT questionable and certainly doesn't rely on Tutty and stopwatches. In addition, if we have reduced fees at pre...

Can you tell me where the changing rooms are at Washburn, Tully & Llangollen are please?? I seem to have mislaid them  The organisation takes less time because of the fewer entries and I beleive the entry fee to be more than £10.00 as I can not remember when there was a double Div 1 or Prem?...

Just a point,,, is the bow at the front of the boat ???

Looking at the pictures they look more like bum rudders to me in more ways than one. :;):

The receipe to disslocate your shoulder is to try and emulate the picture's,, but don't blame me when you are in agony and can not paddle
