There is a campsite within walking distance from the course which has full facilities including a small shop, showers, toilets etc. How you would get to HPP from East Midlands I am not sure, I would have thought there was a train or bus service to the centre of Nottingham from East Midlands airport...

Seems a bit of a waste acording to the papers, turning a purpose built whitewater slalom course over to the rafters rather than using it for the purpose it was built for. But I guess it comes back to the old "Bums on Seats" thing, the most you can get in a slalom boat is two, you can get more in a ...

I agree with Jimi3000, Canoe Polo would be an excellent choice as all the players play for the fun of the sport and no one gets paid for doing it. It would be great for the spectators and as we have already world beating teams we should stand a good chance of winnining some more Gold medals. Bring ...

I think its a good idea to teach juniors how to rescue boats, I was encouraged to take the star tests when I was younger and it really helps you to get a grasp of basic safety techniques. As for safety at HPP it was ok on the whole I thought. Apart from one incident I saw where a women swam by the ...

I would just like to say what a fantastic job the rescue crew did this weekend @ HPP. I heard you were busy on Saturday and on Sunday when we were there you certainly did a great job ??? The safety on the event was a great example to all slalom competition organisers, well done and I am sure the pa...

Sorry Mrs H, but I do not think that you will find that out, as you say all will become clear when the boats are weighed 2nd half of the year :;): I do agree that if rules are made that they should be adhered too, but sometimes you have to look at the greater compexities of the sport and there you ...

Racing cars are a total weight of car & driver that is why they are weighed seperatly, so it makes it fair for everyone that is competing. I think it is fair to say that a lot of smaller paddlers float down some courses and get gates that heavier paddlers have to work hard for. The weight of a boat...

I think that it is important when people start off slalom that they get some idea where they are in the ranking system. I know a lot of our club members appreciated it when they first started. Dee I know it is time consuming, but I am sure that there would be a lot of youngsters out there new to th...

I think that everyone would have enough sense to realise that when air gets heated in a closed container it expand's, so you should always be aware of the change in temperature. All I can say is that none of our club coach's would let you on moving water without airbags. This is not uncommon within...

Rules are Rules as we all know, the problem comes from the interpretation by the judges on what they see or did not due to other distractions which is only human after all. This then has a reflection on the juries decession on what is written down by the judge. A few weeks ago a paddler did a compl...

OK another senario is, who is doing safety for the first two paddlers on the water??? There was an incedent at HPP when the first (prem) paddler swam and there was no safety at the bottom for him or his boat. Even the best get it wrong sometimes, the BCU guidelines state that there should be a mini...
