Re: Clashing bib numbers
So we had this with Vets bibs up until this year, where we used to have a single run of purple bibs, rather than the different colours we have now. We had two issues with the single run of bibs, you had to change the range each year depending on the number of paddlers in each class, and worst case i...

Re: Vet getting too many points
"However your points gained are not as a result of how well you perform but more determined by how badly the Div. 1 / Prem. paddlers perform at that event." Harsh... ;) don't worry, I know what you're getting at Steve... I would say though that if you're paddling-up (although lets not get into the a...

Re: Vet getting too many points
So, probably worth a bit of background and an explanation as to why vets points are as they are now. Prior to this year, vets just got the points they would have had if they were in the ranking race (at least for the last couple of years since we moved away from the time modifier we had before that)...

Re: Public slalom sessions on the Olympic at Lee Valley.
Hi all, just an update following the first slalom session today which Nick has also put up on the website.. Please do share this within your clubs! Firstly, they will run the sessions even if there is only one person booked on. The water is on anyway (it's an empty slot and only an hour gap so they ...

Public slalom sessions on the Olympic at Lee Valley.
Lee Valley have scheduled public slalom only sessions on the Olympic for every Sunday afternoon at 1pm from now until the end of August at £15 for the hour. I’ve had a chat with the centre to find out what the plan is, as these seem to have been arranged without any direct liaison with British Canoe...

Also, sorry Joel hadn't seen your post a couple above which is basically suggesting the same thing....

Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?
Further radical thought - why not move to the model, which I understand is common across Europe, where entry to races isn't restricted by the paddler's division (so basically vets....). I get the need for limiting entry when events were oversubscribed (and we could still prioritise by 'host' divisio...

I thought at a 2/3 vets points were always calculated against the Div 2?

Re: 6.3 ICF Changes to the Rules relating to Buoyancy Jackets
Just a comment on this around timing of the rule change. Bear in mind that this affects the newer Hiko Jackpot BA with the slimmer foam (I believe the original isn't affected) as well as the ST2020. The newer Hikos are far more widely used, and given Hiko seem to have supply issues at the moment (I'...

Re: Independent Lee Valley Access
I'm sure there would be, although there are currently public slalom sessions available. There are weekend sessions available to book for anyone who has completed their Olympic assessment (I believe you can do the session on the day if you've not got it already). Then also Lee Valley Paddlesports Clu...

Re: Back to Slaloms
I'd agree Mike that it'll be a lot easier to be running Div 3 and Div 4 races, no need for the level of complexity involved in Div 2/1/P and lower expectations around speed of results etc. I do appreciate that we all want to be racing again at the top end, but I can't see why we need to hold up the ...

Re: Vets Bibs
Just further to the above Patrick and Nick have both replied to say Mike has been around at club nights so is ok! I'm sure he'll get the bibs sorted, and it's not the end of the world if not, we'll be able to sort something out for the early races. Obviously it's becoming harder work now there are a...

Re: Vets Bibs
Ah, not just me then. I was wondering if mine had been lost in the post, I'm sure Mike has it all in hand.
I'll drop Nick and Patrick from Viking a message just to see if anyone has heard from him, and if anyone can make sure he's ok.

Re: Vets - New Points System Please
Just my 10p worth - I definitely would not support going back to a time modifier. As Nick's analysis showed, and Steve H pointed out (quite rightly ;)), at Llandysul me and Craig would have got the same number of points. It'd have been even worse if Joel had been there and beaten us both, but all th...

Re: Course Design.
Just further to this I thought Gareth did a great job with course design at Llandysul this weekend.
Two really different courses, both properly challenging with lots of options. Great fun to race, and equally fun to spectate seeing different approaches and paddlers really pushing themselves.
