Re: Selection Races at Lee Valley
Have no problem with travelling, drove 32 hours to Krakow, Ceske and Brats last year, but cannot justify the £50 per boat, per category entry fee, with not even any ranking points to come out with.

Selection Races at Lee Valley
What's the point? Only one entry so far. Would cost £200 to enter for K1 and C1 plus travel, food and accommodation, in junior selection and nothing to show at the end of it apart from the few that will make the team's. At least HPP selection races are Prem races so you come away with points. And a ...

Re: Championship Format in Prem
I attended treweryn prem this weekend who were trialing two race formats, neither of which were successful in the eyes of most people we spoke to. Saturday 7 through to final from run 1, 3 through to final from run 2, from each category, apart from C2. That left 40 people in the finals at the end of...

Re: Travel Insurance For Child competing in Europe
For future reference to all parents, most travel insurance that says it covers up to grade 2/3 waters only covers them for having a go for example like booking a holiday activity. It does not cover them for competition! I spoke to Daniel at British Canoeing who was dealing with the race entries and ...

Re: Coping with Numbers in Div 1
I have to ask is there really that many people that can not organise their diary a month in advance, even then they could put the entry in with a note to the organiser explaining you may have to withdraw for whatever reason, surely this would suffice. Some quote monetary reasons but the entry fee i...

Re: Coping with Numbers in Div 1
I noticed that some div 2 paddlers have managed to get a place in the div 1 race coming up at LLandysul as PU’s whilst there are div 1 paddlers who can’t get a place on the waiting list. I’m not against PU’s when there is space but when you have fewer races in div 1 it adds to the problem. I have h...

Re: Coping with Numbers in Div 1
Make promotion harder from division 2 to 1, and 3 to 2.

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?
Love it, much better for parents who can't afford to fork out all the entry fees at beginning of the year. Much better this way.
One query...
How do you enter JUNIOR champs at Llandysul if your in prem?
Do I need to do it by post as online system won't let me do it?

Re: Online Entries Training and Investigation
Can I just say how much I am loving this online entry As a parent with very limited funds, I have found it very difficult to raise the amount of money needed at the start of each year to cover all the race entries and booking accommodation, particularly straight after Christmas! This system has real...

Re: Restructuring the divisions
I am assuming by this you are meaning to split the sport into adults and juniors?
After all you can't possibly mean making the sport more dangerous for kids? Surely???

Re: Restructuring the divisions
Ditch practice runs. I thought about this and think it's a good suggestion, but only for div 1. Paddlers in div 1 are working their way up the division and preparing for promotion to prem where they do not get a practice run, perhaps div 1 should be the same? Something they can get used to and lear...

Re: Restructuring the divisions
HPP is a large successful club. It has an active network of coaches and runs coaching sessions on the white water throughout the week. A child starting out as a young HPP paddler has the potential (as John has suggested) to gain a lot of experience quickly if they choose to devote the time to train...
